Located at the heart of Singapore’s civic and cultural district, Fort Caning Park is a green refuge from the city’s hustle and bustle. Its historical significance can be trace as far back as 14th century and is the only place with an actual archaeological excavation site displayed. It is also the site of Singapore’s first botanic garden established by Raffles in 1822 and where Raffles built his house in 1823. The park is also a venue for many art and culture such as Ballet under the Stars, WOMAD festival, sculpture exhibition and art market.

Since the implementation of Singapore island-wide wireless network, it opens up opportunities for learning outdoors. The use of digital media technology such as mobile phones will be used on the nature and learning trails around the Fort Canning Park to create a more engaging, enriching learning and cultural experience for everyone.

The concept is base on the historical buildings and structures along the 14th, 19th and the trail around Fort Canning Park. The history along these 3 trails is the main facet which sculpted the site to what it is today. From there, the infrastructures are being established based on their first built or replaced. Subsequently, 3 main time-lines are being ascertained from the 3 main trails from the site and are placed on the same level to create ‘Premonition and Flashback of Time’. These premonition and flashback are cross path between the 3 main time-lines which had been determined earlier. Replicas of the materials and architecture from every infrastructure along the site are used for the interior treatment in the project. The user in the iHUB would be able to experience the changing of atmosphere while walking from one point to another. Through curiosity, user would be able to understand better about the facade treatment by using the technology.

As for the technology in the building, the only hardware for the users to carry around is the handphone. The handphone will be equipped with the necessary softwares to run the whole program. The softwares are Zap Code and Mobi Mission which are already in the market and each of them has been assigned to do specific task. When a picture is taken, the Zap Code technology would analyse and recognise a unique pattern made by the interior treatment. After the picture has been analysed, the technology of Mobi Mission would take over. From the technology, a mission would be created for the users which direct them to the specific place where the material or part of architecture is from. With the help of a digital map which has been preinstalled in the handphone together with the softwares, user would be able to know where exactly they are. It is only when the users manage to find their way there that the technology would send another message regards on the information of that particular place. They are also able to drop any messages created by them for other users to see when they have the similar program.
